A particularly
convenient way of using radio-opaque markers to measure intestinal
transit time is to give a dose of a differently shaped marker
on each of three successive days and then to count the numbers
of each shape of marker in a single stool collected subsequently.
The study described (Sykes, 1990)
attempted to discover the limits of accuracy of this technique.
