A histogram depicting the percentages of cancer patients in Holmes’ survey who were distressed by different symptoms. About 17% of patients were significantly distressed by a disordered bowel pattern. This was a greater proportion than those who were upset by changes in personal appearance, tiredness, difficulties in concentration, insomnia, low mood, anorexia, pain or nausea.
