A
30 year-old woman is undergoing cancer treatment with a chemotherapy
regimen that includes a Drug A that can produce ototoxicity in
a dose-dependent fashion: both the probability as well as severity
of vestibular symptoms (manifested by vertigo and nausea) increases
with the cumulative dose of Drug A. After completion of the 6
courses of chemotherapy, she notes moderate distress from vertigo
and nausea. Three months later, she still has some residual symptoms.
Her symptom ratings at both time points are shown in Figure 3.2
below.
